J.J. Kelly Memorial Scholarship

CSEA has opened this scholarship to active members and their eligible dependent children going to a college, trade school or any post-secondary education program.  This scholarship will help students who show leadership qualities in their community, school or union with the rising cost of tuition.

BRIEF HISTORY

This fund was originally created in 1962 when a young attorney, John J. Kelly Jr. died unexpectedly and left behind a widow and five young children. The Trust was designed to assist in the Kelly children’s education. In 1984, when the primary purpose of the trust fund was satisfied under the terms of the Trust Agreement, a separate Scholarship Committee was formed. As a result, the J.J. Kelly Memorial Scholarship Committee was established.
