County incorrectly taxed retro checks at higher rate
Onondaga County Local 834 has been made aware by members that their retroactive paychecks were taxed at a higher level than the regular salary rate.
This is an error by the county payroll office as retroactivity pay is not supplemental income or a bonus. It’s a salary adjustment for regular pay and should have been taxed at the normal rate.
Local President Dan Vadala has been in contact with the county payroll office and the comptroller. We are waiting to hear back regarding their next steps to remedy this issue. We will keep the membership informed as we learn more.
In Solidarity,
Dan Valada,
Local 834 President
