Closures, Staffing & Cleaning

Closures
The County Executive has announced that effective at 4:00 PM tonight all County indoor parks facilities and County Libraries will close to the public.  We do not know what that means for employees at this time.  We are awaiting information from the County Executive’s office.  Please contact your supervisor, department head and Unit Presidents for further information.

Staffing
Further, the County Executive has announced today that he has ordered the Departments to reduce onsite staffing to 50% by close of business tomorrow, March 17th.  Details are being worked out.  Changes to work hours and days are mandatory subjects of bargaining and workday, workweek is covered in your contract.  CSEA has advised the County of such and will work with the County to make temporary agreements on any changes. Some departments may not see a reduction in onsite workers due to the nature of their work.

Cleaning
Please note that the County has advised CSEA that they have contracted Cleanstart Systems to perform electrostatic disinfectant aeration in County buildings starting tonight with the Civic Center.  This system of cleaning is used in hospitals, long term care facilities, as well as schools.  Cleaning will begin tonight in the Civic Center and then in other County buildings each day after.  They will continue to clean each building, once per week until they have determined the crisis is past.
